First dedicated cybersecurity event in the Netherlands

ABN AMRO hosted the first cybersecurity conference for large Dutch companies, SMEs and students. The Dutch Minister of Justice and Security Ferdinand Grapperhaus opened the three-day conference, the aim of which was to identify the gaps in companies’ approach to cyber threats and to work on new initiatives to further bolster the security of Dutch society and companies against cyber criminals. By working together, the companies hope to improve the state of cybersecurity in the Netherlands.

Great exposure for EU-SEC

All the CISOs in the Netherlands were invited to the event, resulting in a busy and fruitful three days. On the first day, Chris van den Hooven, Senior Security Consultant at Nixu, gave a presentation on the work of the EU-SEC project, in particular its multiparty recognition approach to cloud security services and continuous auditing based certification.

The EU-SEC Consortium is developing a framework that innovates the existing compliance and assurance landscape by creating and testing:

  • a multiparty recognition approach between existing cloud security certification and attestation schemes
  • a continuous auditing based certification scheme.

The framework will provide ICT-stakeholders with a validated governance structure, a tailored architecture, and the corresponding set of tools to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their current approach to security governance, risk management, assurance and compliance in the Cloud. The framework has been tested in two large-scale pilots, which were also part of Nixu’s presentation.

“This was a great opportunity to present EU-SEC’s work to cybersecurity experts from some of the largest and most well-known companies in Europe,” said EU-SEC’s project Manager Jürgen Großmann. “Listening to the feedback from the event makes us more convinced that the innovative solutions developed by EU-SEC are very relevant.”
