A Busy Time for EU-SEC at ETSI Security Week 

ETSI Security Week 2019 took place from 17th to 21st June 2019 in Sophia Antipolis, France. The week was divided in five thematic areas which gave participants the opportunity to discuss different aspects of cybersecurity.

The week started with the Cyber Security Landscape workshop, which set the scene for topics to be explored during the rest of the week. Daniele Catteddu, CTO at Cloud Security Alliance (CSA), delivered a presentation on the potential impact of the EU Cyber Security Act on Cloud Computing, including the work done with EU-SEC on cloud assurance and certification. The week continued with the Cyber Security & Policy Actions workshop, where EU-SEC was represented on a Panel Discussion on Cybersecurity Act & Cloud. This panel ran through an example of what needs to be done with regards to the Cybersecurity Act and the cloud, and the impacts on stakeholders, including non-European providers. The panel was moderated by Andreas Mitrakas from the European Agency for Cybersecurity ENISA, while the panel was comprised of the following experts from the fields of cyber security and cloud computing:

  • Pierre Chastanet, head of Cloud & Software Unit at the European Commission
  • Sean Estrada from Amazon Web Services
  • Leire Orue-Echevarria, Project Manager for Cloud Technologies at TECNALIA
  • Damir Savanović, Senior Analyst & Reseracher at Cloud Security Alliance

Another key series of the week was Cyber Security & Dynamic Nature of Technology, Networks and Society. As part of this thread, Dorian Knoblauch of Fraunhofer Fokus gave a presentation on Continuous Auditing Certification, highlighting the benefits of adopting continuous auditing based certification.
